John Eddowes Sparrow and James Thorndike have issued a defense against political slander both in the print of the Suffolk Chronicle and the town. They note that paupers at Oxford had voted for Messrs. Crickitt and Round but had kept these machinations secret. The Sparrow family which had continuously lived in the great house built in 1567 considered these charges malevolent. A very fascinating read of Ipswich before the rise of William Haldimand and the Reform Act of 1832. Extract bound in plain brown wraps. A. Dorkin (printer) unknown
