1937ref. 2341Peiping China: Herni Vetch 1937. 6" x 9" pp. xii 3 2-78; 103 black and white plates. Hardcover quarter-bound in light blue cloth and tan paper boards. Boards are bent at the corners with light wrinkling at the edges of the spine. Paper boards are toned. Cracked gutter at page xii though intact. A few spots of foxing throughout text but otherwise sound. Plates are bright and clean. Good to very good. A detailed study of Chinese dynastic bronze mirrors by age style and typography. 1937ref. 024400Peiping: Henri Vetch 1937. Cloth. Very Good/No Jacket. A clean & unmarked copy of an authoritative and scarce work. This book is tightly bound with over 100 black and white plates of fine Chinese bronze mirrors. It appears to have been rebound in thick red library binding. Spine has good strong gilting on title and library number. Front has a small oval insignia of the S.F. Public Library. The front pocket has been removed leaving some paper remnants. Title page has old perforated library stamp. The pages have faded to a deep ivory with slightly darker edges that have a touch of foxing. Page ends are speckled from the original marbly paper design. Red covers have good strong even color. Cover edges have moderate light usage some soil spots along spine gutter and a small old pen dash but looking well-preserved for their vintage. A nice working copy. Henri Vetch hardcover
