Lawrence's Dirty Northern Bastard; Ernest Hemingway's 12 Rounds With God; and Miller's own guide to the glorious English coast Bridlington: Ninety-Three Million Miles From the Sun. His paintings are at once impressive funny and touching conveying a pervasive sense of nostalgia while playing with the ironies of rhetoric and reputation. Miller has been a celebrated part of the London art scene since the 1990s alongside such artists as Damien Hirst Tracey Emin Sarah Morris and others. In essays and interviews with Jarvis Cocker and Gordon Burn Miller identifies the influences of such figures as Ed Ruscha Mark Rothko Anselm Kiefer and Robert Rauschenberg all of whose work can be seen to have left a mark on Miller's textured and iconoclastic style. 1745rif. 032735Lomdon: R Ware C Hitch J Hodges 1745 A very good copy in largely contemporary full leather binding with frontispiece portrait of Edward Cocker. This copy is the revised edition 'carefully corrected and amended' by George Fisher in 1677. The binding has contemporary boards with a newer spine with gilt lines and title label. There is some scuffing and wear to the boards. Internally there is a pencil note to the front pastedown endpaper and a loose note at the rear by William Ridler a bookseller in London circa 1877 - 1904. Contents: advert with portrait to verso; title; to the Reader verso of title; Edward Cocker's Proem 2pp; note to the Reader 1677; table of contents; text pp 1-183 with advert at the rear. There is some mispagination: pp 69-71-70; and 160-163-162-163 - both with continuous text. At the end some of the pages are out of order with the wrong page printed to the verso of a couple of leaves. The page order for continous text is: 182-181-183-un-numbered verso of 182.
