The narrative offers a rare look at a woman's daily life and perspective as she lived through Colonial America the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812. The book draws from personal anecdotes letters and tributes to depict her childhood marriage family life and her quiet resilience when facing personal hardships losses and the typical struggles of the 18th and early 19th centuries. The biography is uniquely structured to include the actual funeral sermon preached by Joshua Huntington upon her death. The sermon frames her long life as a model of private virtue piety and Christian fellowship for the community.
