Jonathan Holman's regiment that marched on September 26 1777 to reinforce the Northern Army in the battle at Saratoga NY." The Sutton Historical Society wrote about Waters: "Samuel lived what appeared to be quite an eventful and colorful life which included operating a tavern serving time in debtor's prison the result of his participation in a illconceived real estate investment and serving as an Elder with the First Baptist Church of West Sutton during the latter part of his life. . . Artifacts from the Samuel Waters Tavern have made their way to locations as far as Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia. The Samuel Waters Tavern has a colorful history and if it could talk one could only imagine the long and interesting litany of stories it would tell." Evans 26434. ESTC 25992.
