2006rif. 49xvi 16 146 pages. B&W VIGNETTE ILLUSTRATIONS. Large octavo 9 by 6 inch softcover. A very light bit of staining to bottom edge SEE PIC light wear to corners & VERY GOOD CONDITION. A rare title from the now defunct Runa-Raven Press run by Stephen E. Flowers also known by his pseudonym Edred Thorsson. It traces the history of the eclipse of Germanic paganism in the early middle ages down to the beginning of the first stirrings of a revival of the Nordic and Germanische spirit in the later middle ages. Volume II would presumably bring us down to the present from there though I can find no evidence that Flowers ever published that second volume. FROM THE INTRODUCTION: "The topic of the present book has been addressed many times over the years in highly specialized texts which narrowly focus on one national or regional culture and on one time period or another. It is our intention here to draw these streams together under the natural banner of the common Germanic idea. The Germanic cultures are those which use a dialect of the Germanic branch of languages e.g. the Germans English and Scandinavians and who were historically part of a greater Germanic national culture approximately a millennium ago."
