Very scarce first edition.In publisher's original binding.Profusely illustrated with an illustrated title page folding plate five double-page plates and 21 further plates two of which are in colour and one of which features decorative embossed detailing.An engaging history of the Ant. Jurgens Margarine Works the influential company that popularised margarine. The company would go on to form one half of the Margarine Unie a founding member of Unilever. In publisher's original binding. Externally smart with slight bumping and rubbing resulting in minor loss of cloth to spine head tails tips and more noticeably towards the bottom edge of the front board. General marking to both boards including a small red mark to the rear. Internally binding to first two plates delicate otherwise generally firmly bound. The authors/editors Manuel Atanasio Fuentes and Miguel Antonio de la Lama compiled the Peruvian civil legislation adding citations notes cross-references and an appendix of laws decrees resolutions and other related regulations. Contains the text of the Peruvian Civil Code which was based on the Napoleonic Code and Castilian law from the colonial era with extensive notes and commentaries of Miguel Antonio de la Lama which include updated legislation digested judicial decisions and treaty provisions which made it a fundamental reference work for Peruvian jurists of the time. This 1870 edition was the first of what would become the standard reference commentary on the Peruvian Civil Code. The work was highly regarded and was reprinted multiple times reaching its sixth and final edition in 1928 before the 1852 code was finally replaced in 1936. It is an essential historical legal text for the study of civil law and the legal history of Peru in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Ex libris alle armi del Maresciallo Soult duca di Zara. Bell'edizione di quest'affascinante opera su uno dei personaggi più discussi nell'ambiente ecclesiastico del '700. Scipione de' Ricci vescovo di Pistoia e di Prato fu infatti una figura assai scomoda alla Santa Sede. L'ampia sezione di documenti contenuta in quest'opera ci lascia comprendere la sorta di esplicite denunce mosse soprattutto alla corrotta vita della chiesa. Riportiamo come esempio solo un breve passo in italiano n.t.: "Dimostrazione della condotta che tengono i PP. di S. Domenico nel governo di noi religiose di S. Caterina di Pistoja. In vece di lasciarci nella nostra innocenza ci ammaliziano colle parole e colle opere et vengono con frequenza dalla sagrestia della quale hanno quasi tutti le chiavi; ed essendoci una grata di sufficiente grandezza ci fanno mille improprietà ponendo perfino le loro vergogne ne' buchi della medesima. Mettono le mani nel seno delle loro amiche. Si lasciano uscire di bocca sentimenti bestiali dicendo che consideriamo la nostra felicità che senz'incomodo di far figli ci possiamo soddisfare; che finito il mondo è finito tutto.". Tastu unknown

Le pagine preliminari contengono svariati componimenti poetici in latino in onore dell'A. e del Caraffa. Nelle intenzioni dell'autore l'opera avrebbe dovuto essere molto più ampia: si pubblicò invece solo questa prima parte delle due previste col titolo specifico "Antiquitatum Paroeciae D. Vincentii in Prato florilegium duas in partes distributum". "Prima edizione" assai importante per la storia archeologica e religiosa di Milano. L'autore sacerdote milanese morto in occasione della peste di Milano del 1630 fu attento ricercatore degli antichi monumenti ecclesiastici della sua città e la sua opera ne rappresenta l'immagine e ne da la descrizione.Cfr.
