Mid-20th century black blind cloth over marbled boards. = A unique item from the collection of the malacologist ecologist and entomologist Herbert Ant 1931-2010. It is essentially a long list of butterfly genera and species numbered 259-402 with three columns: name male female with occasional price-indications for instance: Valeria Stph. oleagina F. Male 1.20 female 1.50. This is followed by an alphabetical index of 18 pp. These printed strips are derived from the Staudinger Preis Liste palaearktischer Lepidopteren based on Otto Bang-Haas's Catalogus lepidopterorum regionis palaearcticae and published by Staudinger and Bang-Haas in Dresden from 1937 onwards. Additional notes have been made in pencil on the ruled paper giving the impression that the author may have bought - or perhaps sold - the specimens indicated or - more likely - noted their occurrence. Dr. Ant's tiny stamp on the front free endpaper recto and bottom edge. Otherwise very good clean. hardcover

Very scarce first edition.In publisher's original binding.Profusely illustrated with an illustrated title page folding plate five double-page plates and 21 further plates two of which are in colour and one of which features decorative embossed detailing.An engaging history of the Ant. Jurgens Margarine Works the influential company that popularised margarine. The company would go on to form one half of the Margarine Unie a founding member of Unilever. In publisher's original binding. Externally smart with slight bumping and rubbing resulting in minor loss of cloth to spine head tails tips and more noticeably towards the bottom edge of the front board. General marking to both boards including a small red mark to the rear. Internally binding to first two plates delicate otherwise generally firmly bound. The authors/editors Manuel Atanasio Fuentes and Miguel Antonio de la Lama compiled the Peruvian civil legislation adding citations notes cross-references and an appendix of laws decrees resolutions and other related regulations. Contains the text of the Peruvian Civil Code which was based on the Napoleonic Code and Castilian law from the colonial era with extensive notes and commentaries of Miguel Antonio de la Lama which include updated legislation digested judicial decisions and treaty provisions which made it a fundamental reference work for Peruvian jurists of the time. This 1870 edition was the first of what would become the standard reference commentary on the Peruvian Civil Code. The work was highly regarded and was reprinted multiple times reaching its sixth and final edition in 1928 before the 1852 code was finally replaced in 1936. It is an essential historical legal text for the study of civil law and the legal history of Peru in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
