1969Original 1969 Led Zeppelin songbook for what many consider to be their finest album. 48 pages including 19 pages of photos of the boys in band, six of which are in color. One-page color headshot photo of each band member. Colour photos of the band inside each cover, our favorite being the one inside the front cover which shows the shaggy boys staring down at the camera, with Jimmy Page resplendent in yellow clothes trimmed in blue and the band's yellow phallic logo added above them. Includes piano sheet music, lyrics and chords for these classic rock anthems: Whole Lotta Love; What Is And What Should Never Be; The Lemon Song; Thank-You; Moby Dick; Heartbreaker; Living Loving Maid; Ramble On; Bring It On Home. Includes brief write-ups about the band and each of its members. Store stamp atop title page otherwise contents clean and unmarked. Binding intact. Above-average external wear and soiling as perhaps befits this pre-eminent heavy metal band which definitely got down and dirty on this album. An awesome Led Zep collectible. Book

réf. 029109St. Valentine's Day greetings correspondence & ephemera from the collection of Elisabeth Post-Morrow 1896-1992 who maintained an ongoing interest in the world of printing in all its forms including the St. Valentines day holiday from her earliest childhood. Mrs. Morrow "…was a quiet philanthropist and generous supporter of her community… a charter member of her literary club historical society as well as a Trustee of the Packer Institute in Brooklyn. She had many other interests including music especially opera books and printing birds and local natural areas. Before braille was done by machine Elisabeth copied books in braille for the blind…" Obituary by Dorothy Jones and Faith McCutcheon She maintained a life-long and wide correspondence concerning her typographic and ephemeral collecting interests. Approximately 160 items dating circa early19th to the first third of the 20th century. We note that many of the Valentine items were sent to Mrs. Morrow in her childhood and are in their original mailing envelopes and with postal dates as early as 1904. Some of the Valentines she hand-made for family members are also here with notations & dates to that effect; some of these hand-mades are quite clever and sophisticated using cut-paper decorative techniques question-and-answer riddles paper layering and with nicely hand-inscribed well-wishes & humorous comments. A hand-made pink heart is inscribed "Mother July 27 1902 E.P." when she was six. 19th century items include many highly decorative embossed envelopes elaborate cut-paper and layered illustrations and die-cut 3-dimensional effects; some offer mechanical manipulation for expression and display: pull-out sentiments circular spirals suitable for hanging fold-outs from the simple card type to the more complex that have visual puzzles and humor. Some are in protective sleeves in as-collected condition by the owner. There are many splendid examples of 19th century decorative chromolithography & fold-outs in various forms. Some examples: 10" x 8" approx. hand-colored page-form published by B.F. Lloyd & Co. Edinburgh illustrated by Adolph Shcrodter very precisely printed in colors by Fr. Schenck Edinburgh; c. mid-19th century. An elaborately floral example printed and colored on thermoplastic. A spiral paper cut approx. 6" in diameter which when expanded reveals a die-cut scene of courting birds within. Another 'spiral' example with two dancing flower fairies one detached. Cloth-fringed greeting examples. A printed paper 2 ½" die-cut heart with silk ribbon-pull which unfolds origami-like the 'petals' of the heart revealing further well-wishes. Tiny 1 ¼" height" silhouettes of a courting couple backed on white tissue. "Heart-searching Questions" hand-made hearts with heart-related riddles & answers. 2 "Hochachtung…" a beautifully hand-colored courting scene framed in gilt on card backer; a pull-tab at top reveals another scene and wishes from angels of love. "I searched the bookshops thro' and thro' to find the Greeting I'd send to you…" hand-numbered limited edition card # 1822 of 2500 by Buzza contents hand-colored and with wishes on small cards attached via red silk ribbon threaded through the back panel. "Fondly Ise Dremin Ever of Thee" the Yellow Kid early cartoon figure in various fabrics pasted-on a card background. Also 29 Valentine-themed postcards: 13 undivided back time period the balance a few years later. Many have been posted with the cancellations & stamps and most have been addressed to Elizabeth Post or other members of her family. Cards are elaborately chromolithographed embossed and otherwise decorated for the holiday and with appropriate sentiments. Makers include International Art Pub. Co. Nister H.I. Robbins F.A. Owen Raphael Tuck & Sons P.F. Volland Gibson Art Co. Rose Co. and many printed in Germany. One card sent in 1910 has a printed black & white photograph of a group of children with the message "Won't you send me a Valentine Make it a dollar to teach me to be a teacher of my people in "Barbarous Mexico" The Instituto Penn Victoria Tamaulipas Mexico…" Another card with swastika and explanation of the symbology of this ancient sign as related to "…being in harmonic relation with the Infinite" as well as being a Valentine wish. Light wear to the card tips; now all are individually sleeved and are in overall very good condition. Correspondence & Miscellaneous including Original Watercolor Artworks of 'Altars of Love': Two hand-made cards with die-cut 'courting' scene and a cupid dated 1883 pasted to the front covers; with hand-written letters in ink. The first dated Jan 10 '69 from 'Effy' writing her friend Marion; Effy makes small hand-made greeting cards selling through a NYC business has been told of the mutual collecting interest of Marion's acquaintance Mrs. Morrow. She notes ".You will receive a crazy looking 1st class package for your friend who collects valentines…I got interested in cards - old scrap books and paper stuff when I could no longer do heavy refinishing and stencil work. The cards I make are sold in NYC at the Elder Craftsman on Lex…I sell most of the advertising cards at Brandon's on 53rd St. Now- if your collector is interested I have to sell several 'Altars of Love' 1790 - 1830 period very rare - got them from McBerus in Geneva - gone out of business…" And on Jan 23 1969 Effy Riley wrote directly to "My dear Mrs. Morrow" enclosing these images with an explanation of what they are and the promise of further material. Joints and corners a little worn but the binding otherwise in excellent condition; just a hint of browning along a couple edges but A REMARKABLY BRIGHT FRESH AND CLEAN COPY INTERNALLY. This is a collection of passionate love letters purportedly written by a Portuguese nun Mariana Alcoforado to her French lover Noël Bouton de Chamilly. First published in 1669 the letters express profound longing heartbreak and emotional intensity. Although the work originally included just five letters the racy content raised quite a sensation and the book proved so popular that it went through several expanded editions that included newly "discovered" missives. The present edition includes a total of 12 epistles by our nun and 11 responses from her lover as well as another series of "tender and passionate" love letters between a couple referred to only as "la présidente F. à M. Le baron de B." Though the original work is now widely believed to be a piece of fiction written by the supposed translator French diplomat Gabriel Joseph de Lavergne viscomte de Guilleragues 1628-84 it is still considered to be a very important epistolary novel providing insight into the emotional landscape of the time and influencing numerous adaptations and imitations in literature. Some importance of the work can be seen in the fact that copies of the first edition consistently bring substantial prices at auction more than $25000 three times since 2010. The early ownership inscription on the pastedown belongs to Martin Bowes 1670-1726 a barrister and fellow of the Royal Society. Abraham de Hondt & Jacob van Ellinkhuysen unknown
