Broadside 50.75x42cm. printed blackletter; previous folds two corners neatly clipped not approaching text else Very Good to Near Fine. Proposal issued shortly before the Vienna Uprising of October 1848 during which violence broke out between the laboring class of the city and the Hapsburg army as the latter was trying to leave in order to quell the Hungarian Revolution. Löve most likely a university student at the time proposes that Vienna would best be defended if the walls surrounding the inner city were to be dismantled they would be irreparable if damaged by enemy bombardment and the moat filled in for building development. 2016Best.-Nr. OY-4MG2-GSXE2016 RefineCatch hardcover edition. Light reading wear else very good condition. Inspired by his deep love of his county's history and using sources previously untapped by textile historians Dr Amor explains the growth of Suffolk's woollen cloth industry in the late Middle Ages. For a short period the hundreds of Babergh and Cosford in the south of the county were among the most intensively industrialised regions in all Europe. The great churches at Hadleigh Lavenham and Long Melford bear witness to the wealth created. But cloth was also made in many other parts of Suffolk. After a brief introduction this volume begins with a nationwide survey of English cloth-making in the Middle Ages and an exploration of the reasons - physical geography; economy and technology; and society - for its fluctuating fortunes. Subsequent chapters focus on Suffolk. They consider the wool trade and the role of woolmen; the various stages of cloth production and finishing; and the rise of the clothier in the second half of the fifteenth century. This is history from the bottom up told through the lives of men and women who made the cloth - card-makers spinsters weavers fullers dyers shearmen and clothiers.
