He continued his studies at the Karlsruhe Academy upon his return in 1862, advancing to a popular historical painter and portraitist and creating works for prestigious institutions, including the court theatres in Karlsruhe and Dresden. - Traces of postmarks; some small ink spots. Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau. - As the artistic director of the porcelain manufacture "Royal Copenhagen" from 1884 to 1916, Krog revived the company after a period of decline, moving away from the stiff Empire style of previous decades in favour of a more impressionist style which combined underglaze painting techniques with inspirations drawn from Japanese imagery and European Naturalism.
