Neither of the two earlier editions however appears to have contained the fantastic and often haunting engravings by YAN DARGENT Bretagne 1824 - 1899 which animate this edition.<br/>A translation of this title and "Pêches dans l'Amérique du Nord" later appeared as "Shooting and fishing in the rivers prairies and backwoods of North America" L. As an Officer of the 15th Foot Regiment Dashwood left Cork for St. John N.B. where he was stationed from 1862 until 1868. He was an enthusiastic sportsman who spent hisleaves hunting; in 1868 he made an expedition to Newfoundland to shoot caribou. The present title combines information on game hunting equipment and on methods of hunting with passing comments on the country and a well-told account of his hunting experiences. The main title is the Millicite word for the stick on which the kettle is suspended over the camp fire. "Somehow even Bermuda is included in this interesting if rambling book with much about fishes even those of Bermuda.Rare" Bruns.
