Hand colored aquatint signed in the plate Stainforth. <br/><br/>A choice group of the sporting prints commissioned by William Woodward owner of the Belair Stables.<br/>"Brown Betty" by T.P. Earl 1874-1947 is previously unrecorded and never seen by Ordeman whose 2005 book collected prior knowledge on the prints. One other print by British artist T.P. Earl Flares is noted by Ordeman date unknown but in personal communication he reports that his information comes at second hand. and has never seen "Brown Betty". The print is however in the collection of the Belair Mansion Museum established after Woodward's death at his Maryland residence. Brown Betty won the 1933 1000 Guineas race and the painting by T.P. Earl that Woodward commissioned is dated 1933 in the plate. The paper and production of this color print differ from the aquatint horse portraits commissioned from Connett and Frank Lowe. Given the date of the portrait we conjecture that Woodward commissioned the print in London and thus it may predate and be the point of origin for the series of prints commissioned from Connett. In recent conversation Ordeman advanced a similar hypothesis.<br/>The Megargee print "Marguerite" with her colt Gallant Fox is from the collection of Derrydale Press publisher Eugene V. Connett 3rd.<br/>Rare and important. Ordeman 2005 pp. 96-98; Mitchell British Equestrian Artists: "Stainforth's detail and accuracy in likeness were very fine and very natural. He avoided the pitfalls of flatness and photographic stiffness so often found in this type of work." Provenance: descendant of the Loew family see note at "Marguerite" privately printed at the Derrydale Press, etc. unknown books‎

‎In the Ice World of the Himalaya Among the Peaks and Passes of Ladakh Nubra Suru and Baltistan‎

‎New York: Cassell and Company 1900. First American Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. xvi 204 pp with three colored folding maps and 67 illustrations from photographs. Original green cloth with illustration of the authors on the front board. Minor insect damage to front board spine slightly toned some foxing to endpapers else quite sound and clean. The American husband and wife team were wealthy zealous and energetic explorers who together made many expeditions to the Himalayas. Fanny a suffragist as well as a bit of a publicity hound made sure the world knew of her achievements as a pioneering female climber. Among other achievements she held the women's altitude record for 28 years after her conquest of 23000-ft Pinnacle Peak in 1906. Robinson Wayward Women amusingly describes her as having "practically battered the Karakorams into submission first treading them over with her squat hob-nailed figure and then pinning them down on virgin maps and charts to take home for the various Geographical Societies of England and America to fight over." This is the account of their first Himalayan expedition 1898-99 during which they reached the Karakoram Pass and explored the Biafo Glacier Neate W124. Cassell and Company hardcover books‎

Scarce and unusual complimentary type program that were handed out to fans at Yankee Stadium. Since the second page refers to games 34 and 5 it appears the first two games had already been completed. The first page includes a black and white photo of Yankee Stadium illustrating an actual game. The front page gives historical series results and attendance numbers. The two inside pages were meant to help the fan keep score. This copy is unmarked. The back page gives player stats for both teams. An unusual and somewhat scare bit of World Series history.
