The text is illustrated with 16 black and white illustrations/engravings by various illustrators and engravers. Illustrated front cover being a reproduction of the frontispiece against a green background with red and black titles to the front panel and black titles to the spine. On the back strip there is another illustration of men sliding down a mountain. Bumping rubbing and slight tearing to the head and to the heel of the back strip. Bumping and rubbing to the book corners underlying board is visible. The titles on the back strip were originally placed in a gilt insert the gilt has almost been worn away. Rubbing staining and scuffing of the book panels. Staining browning and foxing to the top text block edge and browning and light foxing to the other text block edges. Offset tanning browning and light foxing to the endpapers and internal pages are brown with the occasional scattered foxing spot and handling marks. The front hinge has split and the sewing of the book can be seen. There has been a Prize Plate affixed to the front paste down and at some stage a previous owner has scrubbed out the name and date of winning of book to the point where the underlying board is visible. There is a small tear to the front fore edge of the free front in paper. No publication dates or data is readily available but given the decoration and style of book my guess would be early 20th century.
