Davvero magnifica quest'edizione del più classico dei libri da pesca inglesi, in bella conservazione, ricchissimo iconograficamente, legatura in ottimo stato. Rara e pregiata, l'opera è davvero stuzzicante. Bellissime le illustrazioni, elegante veste legatoriale.

Volume in 8° piccolo, tela editoriale, piatto inquadrato da filetto in oro, medaglione centrale, titolo inquadrato al dorso, piccola figura in oro, sguardie, antiporta incisa in rame col ritratto di Walton protetto da velina, frontespizio con ampia vignetta silografica, XIX, 496 pp., carta di subscribers e colophon, una tavola col ritratto inciso in rame di Cotton che precede l'occhiello della seconda parte dell'opera a pagina 339, 203 illustrazioni silografiche nel testo. Magnifico esemplare d'un classico sulla pesca soprattutto al lancio, arricchito dalle biografie dei due estensori e da una serie di aggiornamenti sui tipi e luoghi deputati alla pesca. Splendida la parte iconografica, in ottimo stato (solo qualche lievissima menda alla legatura), assai poco comune edizione.

Brown hardback leather cover. 190mm x 120mm 7" x 5". lvi xxii 303pp; xlviii iv ii iv 128pp; index. 15 b/w plates & numerous b/w vignettes. This edition came into competition with that issued by Browne in the previous year and gave rise to 'sundry skirmishes and passages of arms between the two editors.' Browne's charges of plagiarism appear unfounded. Hawkins reproduced the two parts of the 1676 edition ignoring most of Moses Browne's changes he disagreed with Brownes editing. .
