br. Come meglio si comprenderà una volta analizzati gli argomenti dei due eroi anouilhiani, la lotta tragica, nella pièce del drammaturgo francese, non è più tra due sistemi di pensiero naturalmente antitetici, bensì tra due sventurati atteggiamenti la cui convenzionalità è chiara persino a coloro che dovrebbero difenderli. Se Albert Camus, riferendosi alla tragedia sofoclea, ritiene infatti che Antigone abbia sì ragione, ma che allo stesso tempo Creonte non abbia torto - "Antigone a raison, Créon n'a pas tort" -, per la pièce di Anouilh sembra valere piuttosto la seguente formula: "Antigone ha torto, ma Creonte non ha ragione": entrambi gli eroi anouilhiani, chi per un motivo, chi per un altro, sanno fin dal principio della tragedia di non essere affatto dalla parte della ragione; ciononostante, essi continuano cinicamente a rivendicare la propria tragicità, ad agire secondo convenzione.
