‎1953 3 pages in-8 manucrites et 3 pages in-4 tapuscrites, février 1953 à février 1954. A partir des années 50, Louis Pauwels prend la tête de la revue "Arts" et a à coeur d'en améliorer la rubrique littéraire. Il s'entoure de Jacques Peuchmaurd à qui il confie la chronique "Je lis un livre par jour". Cette correspondance témoigne des efforts constants pour alimenter une revue à parution hebdomadaire. Ainsi Pauwels même en vacances, passe sans transition du canard "sauvage" au canard "papier" : "Cher Jacques, je rentre à l'instant du Mont St Michel où j'ai chassé une sorte de canard très subtil qu'on appelle 'plongeur'. On ne le touche jamais, il joue sa vie avec une désinvolture merveilleusement efficace. Je te joins sous ce pli une lettre affolée d'un brave Monsieur que tu serais aimable de calmer. Je lui écris que tu ne manqueras pas de lui donner tous apaisements. Armand Lanoux me demande si il peut collaborer à 'Arts' comme tu l'en as prié. Je dis oui bien sûr, comme je dirai oui en toutes occasions quand tu seras en cause".‎

(tables), 235 pp. manuscrites, 2 ff. joints, l'ensemble de trois mains différentes (cf. auteurs précités).‎

‎Passionnant manuscrit original relatant l'histoire de la ville de Marle (d'abord à travers la chronique du diocèse de Laon, reprise de Lelong, puis les annotations se multiplient, et les sources, ainsi que les annotations des rédacteurs se font toujours plus nombreuses). Les témoignages relatifs à la fin de l'Ancien Régime, à la Révolution, à l'Empire et à la Restauration, souvent très pittoresques, sont du plus haut intérêt ; on évoquera notamment le passage des Cosaques et de l'Empereur de Russie à Marle, les vexations d'un officier prussien menaçant de la "Schlague", ou le passage de l'empereur Napoléon Ier à Marle, allant à Waterloo. Le manuscrit s'ouvre par une notice relative à la famille du dédicataire et co-rédacteur Louis Pelletier..‎
