Los Angeles: Universal Studios 1957. Original 93 page revised shooting script with color rewrite pages for the film The Saga of Hemp Brown starring Rory Calhoun. This is Mr. Calhoun’s working copy with his notations throughout. Specially bound in gilt-stamped brown leather with the original title “Hemp Brown†and “Rory Calhoun†gilt-stamped on the front board. About fine condition with some very minor edge wear primarily at the top and bottom edges of the spine. This Western genre film was written by Bob Williams directed by Bernard and co-starred Beverly Garland John Larch and Fortunio Bonanova. It tells the story of Lieutenant Hemp Brown Calhoun whose army payroll wagon is robbed by ex-sergeant Jed Givens' Larch gang forcing Brown to search for the culprits after he is deemed a coward by the court martial stripped of all insignia and drummed out of the army. Brown sets out to track down Givens in an effort to clear his name. The Saga of Hemp Brown was released on October 1 1958. Rory Calhoun 1922 - 1999 is best known for his starring roles in such memorable films as Rogue River 1951 With a Song in My Heart 1952 Way of a Gaucho 1952 How to Marry a Millionaire 1953 and The Yellow Tomahawk 1954. He also worked extensively in television including the Western series The Texan Gunsmoke Death Valley Days Zane Grey Theater BonanzaRawhide and more.
