Bound in contemporary half-vellum/parchment over marbled paper boards with leather title-labels to spines. All edges dyed red and waxed. Original title-pages all present but lacking any half-titles or general title page. Toning and wear to spines; patches of loss to surface layer on spine of vol. I & III. Some light toning and off-setting to texts but generally very clean and bright; scattered foxing only. Old owner's engraved bookplate of Weston B. Flint engraved y H. E. Kellogg inside front covers. Five volume complete set illustrated with 33 engraved plates 3 fold-out maps and two head-pieces and a fold-out facsimile of a letter from Cervantes. Complete. The 5 volumes were expertly rebound probably in the early 1900s. 2 of the volumes retain the original hand-sewn headbands. The leather and the labels are in fine condition. Very clean overall. <p>Printed in Paris by LibreriÌa de C. Hingray in 1844 this edition of Don Quijote de la Mancha appears in the original Spanish featuring the translator and commentator Eugenio de Ochoa. The volume contains both parts of Cervantes' work with illustrations on the title page and as a frontispiece. Its duodecimo format and period leather binding with marbled boards reflect the presentation styles of mid-19th-century continental books. Condition is Very Good with a tight spine clean text block and light foxing to several leaves. Collation: xxxiv 695 pp. Illustrations: Frontispiece and title-page engraving.
