Light traces of rubbing to edges. Copy of exceptional freshness perfectly white and free from foxing for an edition that is always foxed. Uncut set with full margins. Famous Romantic illustrated book; one of Johannot's finest productions along with Voyage où il vous plaira and Roland furieux. Johannot is less renowned than Grandville undoubtedly because he is more typically Romantic in Hugo's sense both gentle and sentimental then whimsical and morbid to the point of grotesque.
