The elaborately stamped boards are covered in brown leather. the bottom 2.5" of which is off the spine. It is rubbed and a bit scuffed making it difficult to read the gold titles in the brown box on the spine. It has red marbled end papers. the pages are gilt edged all around but the gilt is worn. it has 393 bright clear pages but the black & white illustrations are badly foxed. C. Wells hardcover
