Der Gelehrte und Pflanzenkundler Giulio Pontedera (1688-1747) "studirte die Cartesianische Philosophie, Medicin und Naturgeschichte zu Padua, wurde aber von Morgagni und Poleni zu der beobachtenden Philosophie zurückgebracht, und überließ sich leidenschaftlich dem Studium der Botanik, die er schon als Knabe geliebt hatte" (Jöcher/A.). Die Kupfertafel zeigt Ulmenbäume, an denen sich Gewächse (Reben?) emporranken. - Alter hs. Besitzvermerk am Titel. Das Rückenschildchen etwas lädiert; innen sauberes, gutes Exemplar. ‎Gutes Exemplar. - Gerhard Helbig (* 29. Dezember 1929 in Leipzig; ? 29. Mai 2008 ebenda) war ein deutscher Germanist. Gerhard Helbig studierte zwischen 1948 und 1952 in seiner Heimatstadt Leipzig. Er war Absolvent der Studiengänge Germanistik, Philosophie und Anglistik. Helbig promovierte dort im Jahre 1953 mit der Dissertation "Der Apriorismus in der deutschen Literaturwissenschaft und Wege zu seiner Überwindung - Versuch einer erkenntnistheoretischen Analyse des methodischen Standes der gegenwärtigen Literaturwissenschaft". Seit dem Jahre 1957 betätigte er sich im Bereich Deutsch als Fremdsprache in Forschung und Lehre und 1969 wurde er dann zum ersten ordentlichen Professor für "Deutsch als Fremdsprache" berufen. Dies war der erste Lehrstuhl für dieses Fachgebiet im gesamten deutschsprachigen Raum. Die ihm dort übertragene erste Professur für Deutsch als Fremdsprache hielt er bis zu seiner Emeritierung im Jahre 1995 inne. Von 1967 bis 1995 war er Leiter des Wissenschaftsbereiches Linguistik des Herder-Institutes der Universität Leipzig. ?
