Car. tondo, lettere-guida per le iniziali, nella prima metà del volume le iniziali sono dipinte in rosso. E' Il quarto libro impresso a Torino, dai torchi del prototipografo Giovanni Fabri. Terza edizione dell'opera – che segue la prima del 1474 di Giovanni Filippo de Legnamine e quella romana di Giovanni Schurener del 1476 – ma con l'aggiunta dello stesso Fabri di notizie su Piemonte e Savoia. Le ultime 4 pagine danno notizie su Amedeo IX (secondo Duca di Savoia) prima a Vercelli "in sua dilecta and speciosa Vercellarum civitate" e poi a Torino "urbe primaria", nonché delle virtù che l'erede Filiberto, morto misteriosamente a 17 anni, avrebbe palesato "si deus optimum longiorem prestaverit vitam". L'aggiornamento parla in fine di Carlo il Temerario e della morte di Galeazzo Sforza. Il Fabri aveva stampato nel 1474 un "Breviarium Romanum" e nel 1476 la "Practica nova iudicialis". Dopo aver licenziato due edizioni a Caselle, ritornò a Torino nel 1477 con la celebre "Summa Lacticiniorum" di Pantaleone da Confienza e la presente "Chronica". L'arrivo in città sembrò segnare l'inizio di un nuovo periodo di vivace attività, perché entro pochi mesi apparvero anche i primi Statuti Sabaudi curati da Pietro Cara. Però dal maggio 1478 a fine marzo 1482, quando fu terminata di stampare l'Expositio Psalmorum del Torquemada, comparvero solo sei edizioni, "quantità assai modesta, che trova giustificazione nella povertà di mezzi e in parte forse anche nella scarsa propensione per la lettura e lo studio delle genti subalpine, alle quali sembra debbano esser riservati prevalentemente libri scolastici e volumetti di pietà e devozione" (Rinaldo Comba, Il basso Medioevo e la prima età moderna, 1975). In buono stato di conservazione, malgrado le mancanze ed aloni d'umido agli ultimi 6 ff., strappo all'angolo inf. esterno dell'ultimo f., che riporta conti a penna al verso bianco; questo esemplare, con ex- libris ''Del Conte della Trinità'' (il balio Francesco Luigi Costa) eseguito all'acquaforte da Stagnon, e del Conte Andrea Bocca, fu venduto all'asta Bocca del 2.V.1932, poi dalla Libreria Hoepli e notificato nel 1960, venne poi de-notificato nel 1973. Rarissimo cimelio tipografico torinese, di cui sono noti una decina di esemplari, quasi tutti incompleti compreso quello del British M.; l'unico certamente completo e solo in USA è conservato all' Huntington Library.. in-folio (445x310), ff 30 nn. (i fogli 13 e 23 n.n. bianchi). In antiporta il ritratto di Francesco IV inciso in rame da Antonio Gaiani, tratto dal dipinto da Geminiano Vincenzi. Legatura tipica reggiana coeva in mezza pelle verde, piatti in cartone rivestiti in carta a colla spugnata ad effetto marmorato in monocromo verde su fondo bianco, una cornice classica incisa in oro con due rotelle a motivi differenti incornicia i piatti. Carte di guardia spugnate in monocromo ocra su fondo bianco con effeto marmorato. Raccolta di componimenti poetici, esaltanti le virtù del nuovo duca "Francesco IV d'Este", subentrato a Napoleone nel 1814-15. I componimenti sono in italiano, latino e greco antico in stili diversi, dall'epigrafico al narrativo e poetico. L'autore scelse per questa raccolta il formato in folio ed una carta bianchissima, in modo che ogni particolare dei caratteri tipografici potessero emergere con nitidezza anche nei fili più sottili. Eliminò ogni elemento decorativo (quali finalini, testatine, fregi, ecc). Splendido esempio di arte tipografica Reggiana per questo capolavoro dell'incisore e stampatore Michele Torreggiani, "cultore della politezza e della giustezza dei caratteri" e che molto imparò dalla lezione bodoniana. Volume di assoluta rarità, tirato in pochi esemplari e probabilmente distribuito alle sole autorità dell'epoca. Bell'esemplare qualche piccola macchietta rossa nel margine bianco del ritratto.. .

Impresso in caratteri romani e con varie parole in greco, illustrato da 116 straordinarie figure in silografia, inoltre su sei fogli sono illustrate le lettere di 13 diversi alfabeti: ebraico, greco, di fantasia e cifrati. Titolo racchiuso in bordura figurata, che include l'impresa tipografica di Tory. Altra grande marca dello stesso stampatore e colophon al recto dell'ultimo foglio. Edizione originale del notissimo trattato di calligrafia e tipografia, in cui con grande arte e fantasia il Tory illustra in forma assai personale le proprie idee e regole sulla grammatica e l'ortografia del francese a inizio XVI secolo, sull'origine e lo sviluppo del carattere romano e, per terminare, analizza la costruzione dei vari alfabeti. G. Tory, incisore, calligrafo, tipografo francese (Bourges ca. 1480-Parigi ca. 1533), studiò a Roma e a Bologna, quindi insegnò a Parigi letteratura e filosofia curando nel contempo edizioni di opere erudite, tra cui il De re aedificatoria di Leon Battista Alberti (1512) e numerosi Libri d'ore. Con la sua opera di illustratore e di calligrafo promosse in Francia il passaggio dalla scrittura gotica ai caratteri rinascimentali per cui disegnò numerosi alfabeti. Il Champfleury, è uno dei più famosi e rari figurati del rinascimento francese. Esemplare assai puro e bello (tre antiche firme di appartenenza sul titolo). PRIMA EDIZIONE del piu celebre libro illustrato del Rinascimento francese, ideato sulla scorta di Pacioli (1509) e Duerer (1525) per celebrare l'origine e lo sviluppo del carattere Romano, analizzandone la costruzione e il disegno. L'opera edivisa in tre parti: la prima concerne il francese, la seconda l'origine del carattere romano e la terza la costruzione delle lettere dei vari alfabeti. Le incisioni nella seconda sezione dimostrano come i rapporti proporzionali nel disegno delle lettere derivino dalle proporzioni umane, idea che fu di Leonardo e Pacioli, ripresa in ambito francese da Jean Perreal. Nella terza sezione Tory fornisce un accurato e minuzioso manuale pratico per la realizzazione delle singole lettere, sulla scorta di analoghi manuali italiani di calligrafia coevi. Edito sei anni dopo la sua stesura, Tory aveva ottenuto il privilegio di stampa sin dal 1526 come riportato in un suo volume del 1527..
