Oblong 32mo an extremely good fresh copy in full rich chestnut morocco by Bumpus with gilt tooling of flowers leaves stars and centrepiece of roses plus gilt lettering on the spine top edge gilt others uncut gilt trefoils on turnins. Corners slightly bumped with a little shelf wear to bottom edge mild offset from turn-ins and a tiny tear on the ffep otherwise a really charming book.Rossetti’s ‘Blessed Damozel’ first appeared in the second number of ‘The Germ’ in 1850 and was particularly admired by Ricketts. Questo primo lavoro di Isella deriva dalla sua tesi di laurea discussa a Firenze nella primavera del 1947. L'impostazione critica fu suggerita al giovane appassionato lettore del Dossi da un memorabile corso sulla Stilkritik di Leo Spitzer tenuto a Friburgo da Gianfranco Contini. Un rigoroso e nuovo metodo di lavoro trov� applicazione nello studio del grande scrittore lombardo comprovando con gli strumenti raffinati della linguistica storica della dialettologia e della critica variantistica quest'ultima esemplarmente applicata alle due redazioni dell'Altrieri: 1868 e 1881 i pi� alti risultati dell'estetica crociana rafforzati nei loro esiti migliori da una salda prospettiva storica.
