The report is divided into: Introduction; The Building, its Elements, Materials and Construction; Roundhouse Memorabilia; and Conclusions, plus a bibliography. The heart of the report lies in the Memorabilia section which provides historical and diagrammatic information about the roundhouses at North Bend, Revelstoke, Field, Cranbrook, Nelson, Trail, Penticton, Coquitlam, Vancouver, and Victoria. Part 2 consists of approximately 75 one-sided pages of black and white photocopied reproductions of photos of roundhouses from across British Columbia. Average wear. Unmarked. A sound copy. Presumably most, if not all, the roundhouses documented here have since been demolished, thus this report, prepared by students of the UBC School of Architecture, serves as an important historical and architectural record. This historical account tells the little-known story of the jobless who drifted across the country during the Depression and were drawn into the work camps - offered poor food, mass shelter, and a few pennies a day in exchange for doney work on major government projects. Records the desperation, disillusionment, and rebellion of these welfare inmates, and the repressive shameful way in which the politicians and government authorities tried to keep the situation under control. He falls in love with a vaudeville starlet who's already being courted by another wealthy thief. The Blackbird attempts to use his Bishop persona to break up the pair and fails becoming crippled and nearly being caught by the police in the process. Set in the Limehouse district in London. NOISBN . worn copy rear cover detached pages browned and somewhat brittle chipping/flaking at corners creasing to covers etc. Popular Plays and Screen Library Series B&W photographs Novelization of the 1926 MGM film THE BLACKBIRD starring Lon Chaney Ren�e Ador�e and Owen Moore and directed by Tod Browning. The book bearing a 1925 copyright date seems to have been issued prior to the release of the film itself -- which obviously had an 11th-hour title change -- in January 1926. The three photographic plates in the book itself are full-page portrait shots of Ador�e Moore and Tod Browning -- the only example I've seen where a film's director was thus featured. Chaney himself is depicted on the front cover and in a minature portrait gallery on the rear cover with six small shots of some of his memorable screen characters including the Phantom of the Opera and the Hunchback of Notre Dame. Not in fantastic condition but extremely uncommon. It's unfortunate for today's collectors that many of the tie-in books for Chaney's MGM films were issued in these ultra-cheap non-durable Jacobsen paperbacks instead of as Grosset & Dunlap or A.L. Holograph annotations in pencil on one page and in blue pencil on two pages. Story set in Africa where an Englishman named Trelawney believes he has discovered a rich oil dome with the help of Boris Odelosi a Hungarian engineer. Elements from previous Browning films notably "West of Zanzibar" 1928 sprinkle the treatment including voodoo a witch doctor character named Loogo who can seemingly bring the dead back to life stigmata and murder. Light blue wrappers dated October 26 1932. Title page present dated October 26 1932 with credits for script writers Morris and Lloyd as well as a credit for Browning. 73 leaves mimeograph duplication. Beverly Hills CA: Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer MGM 1928. Draft script for the 1929 silent film. Lon Chaney plays a heavily-scarred wild animal trapper whose daughter's upcoming marriage is threatened by the return of her femme fatale mother. The mother harbors bitterness to Chaney and seeks revenge on him by attempting to woo her daughter's fiance thwarted by a gorilla Chaney releases from a cage that gruesomely attacks her. Lon Chaney's penultimate silent film and the last of his collaborations with director Tod Browning. The film was released with a Movietone music and effects soundtrack that could be played alongside the film. Tan titled wrappers rubber-stamped copy No. 10751 and production No. 415 dated Dec. 31 1928 with credits for producer Irving Thalberg. Title page integral with the first page of the text with credits for story writers Tod Browning and Harry Sinclair Drago and screenwriter Waldemar Young. 75 leaves with last page of text numbered 75. NOISBN . worn copy rear cover detached pages browned and somewhat brittle chipping/flaking at corners creasing to covers etc. Popular Plays and Screen Library Series B&W photographs Novelization of the 1926 MGM film THE BLACKBIRD starring Lon Chaney Renée Adorée and Owen Moore and directed by Tod Browning. The book bearing a 1925 copyright date seems to have been issued prior to the release of the film itself -- which obviously had an 11th-hour title change -- in January 1926. The three photographic plates in the book itself are full-page portrait shots of Adorée Moore and Tod Browning -- the only example I've seen where a film's director was thus featured. Chaney himself is depicted on the front cover and in a minature portrait gallery on the rear cover with six small shots of some of his memorable screen characters including the Phantom of the Opera and the Hunchback of Notre Dame. Not in fantastic condition but extremely uncommon. It's unfortunate for today's collectors that many of the tie-in books for Chaney's MGM films were issued in these ultra-cheap non-durable Jacobsen paperbacks instead of as Grosset & Dunlap or A.L.
