The Black Cat Post-production script for the 1941 film
Universal City CA: Universal Pictures 1941. Post-production Continuity and dialogue script for the 1941 film. The 1941 version of "The Black Cat" is neither a remake of Edgar G. Ulmer's 1934 Karloff-Lugosi film of the same name nor does it bear much relation to the Edgar Allan Poe story though in fairness neither did the 1934 version. It is more of a horror-comedy affair than its predecessor with Broderick Crawford and Hugh Herbert in the lead Bela Lugosi reappearing now in the more minor role of "Eduardo" and Basil Rathbone ably handling the part of the shady Mr. Hartley. Shot by the legendary Stanley Cortez of "Magnificent Ambersons" fame. Hal Erickson Rovi Title page integral with front wrapper as issued with credits for actors Rathbone Herbert Crawford and Lugosi as well as director Rogell dated April 9 1941. 148 leaves mimeograph duplication. Ponti James adapted for the film from the story by Charles Dickens
A CHRISTMAS CAROL
New York: Disney Press 2009. 137 pp. Trade paperback format. Light edge and corner wear with a flat uncreased spine; no interior markings. Illustrated with colour artwork from the movie. Just as a matter of interest A Christmas Carol has been filmed for theatres at least 19 times starting with a short British film in 1901 called Scrooge or Marley's Ghost to most recently - 2009 - with Jim Carrey as Ebenezer Scrooge - the most popular one still seems to be the one from 1951 with Alastair Sim as Scrooge. As for television that began in 1944 until most recently a direct to DVD in 2013 - The Smurfs: A Christmas Carol. Even radio was into it beginning on December 19 1923 when the BBC broadcast an adaptation. The most recent one was December 18 2015 starring Kathleen Turner in a live performance. And then there were a number of recordings mostly on vinyl. And even four operas. But when it comes to editions of the actual book well maybe someone can count that high. . First Printing - First Thus. Soft Cover. Very Good. 12mo. Disney Press Paperback
