An exciting account of perilous ascents and pioneering discoveries an extraordinary adventure in Africa's Ruwenzori Mountains. Humphreys's narrative of five Ruwenzori expeditions and an expedition to Masawa is preceded by details of numerous air reconnaissance missions of the area undertaken whilst Humphreys employed as photographer awaited suitable weather conditions. The chief objective of the various expeditions was the collection of plants and seeds of possible horticultural value. Humphreys was praised in addition for his considerable discovery and survey of plateaux lying to the north and south of the peaks thereby significantly increasing geographical knowledge of the area.
