First edition. With sixteen photogravures. Marie-Jeanne Bcu Comtesse du Barry 17431793 was the last matresse en titre of Louis XV of France and one of the victims of the Reign of Terror during the French Revolution. Condition: The binding is firm. the back board. The rear inner hinge is strained and may fail in the post. There is wear to the extremities including bumping and rubbing and some discolouration. There is some spilt wax on the front board as can be seen in the photograph above. Internally the pages are generally clean and bright with a couple of spots on the first and last couple of pages.
