Neatly rebacked in morocco to style back with five raised bands second and third compartments lettered and ruled in gilt other compartments ruled in blind. With the early nineteenth-century engraved armorial bookplate of Thomas Maitland Lord Dundrennan 1792-1851 eminent Scottish judge and bibliophile studied at Edinburgh before being called to the Scottish bar in 1813. He served as Solicitor-General from 1840-41 and again from 1846-50. In 1845 he was elected MP for Kirkcudbrightshire which post he relinquished in 1850 on his ennoblement as Lord Dundennan.
