1939 Advertising Calendar for Williams Brown & Earle Scientific Instruments Philadelphia
Philadelphia: Williams Brown & Earle 1938. Fine. 7.5 x 14.5 cm. metal desk calendar with individual leaves for Dec. 1938-Dec. 1939 printed in red and brown. Dec. 1938 has an illustration of a stagecoach and horses in a winter scene. The others each have the main month in the center with smaller versions of the previous and following months on either side. With the original envelope which has a small Christmas illustration on the front in red and green. Williams Brown & Earle was established in 1890 by Henry S. Williams N. Howland Brown & Morris Earle specializing in math instruments; the next year they registered a patent for eyeglasses and by 1899 were advertising optical photograhic and scientific instruments. In the early 20th century they sold a stereopticon popularly known as a magic lantern but by the 1930s they were focusing on strictly scientific instruments. Calendar is in Fine Condition: never used; clean and bright. Envelope is in Very Good- Condition: lightly soiled; small tear. <br/><br/> Williams, Brown & Earle unknown

Montreal: Privately Printed 1937. 3/4 red boards over burgandy leather with 5 raised bands and gold gilt printing and design to upper board and spine. Illustrations throughout. Crisp pages. Owner's bookplate. The frontpiece is a fascimile of a page of the Guttenberg Bible. Pages are on very beautiful paper. Untrimmed side edges. STATED: 250 copies of this book were printed for Charles Corbitt Ronalds by the Ronalds Company December 1937. On the inside back board written in light pencil in small print says: " Details of how this volume came to its home on the sun porch of 421 Field Point Road Greenwich Connecticut escape my memory. It fulfills its mission again at Christmas 1951 and we thank the makers. M.E." Sweet isn't it. The Red Dust jacket is red with no text and is in poor shape as it is in two pieces. The book itself is fine and gift quality! I am always happy to send details photographs. Half-Leather. Fine/Poor. 8vo - over 7�" - 9�" tall. Privately Printed Hardcover
