Included are a plot summary typescript draft and draft script for an unproduced film based on Fyodor Dostoyevsky's 1866 novel. Archive belonging to director Robert Rossen with his holograph annotations throughout. A classic of Russian literature presented here in a modern retelling. A philosophical study on the permissiveness of murder in the name of a higher calling the original features ex-student Raskolnikov in Saint Petersburg who plans and executes the murder of a pawnbroker for her cash. He believes he has the right to perform good deeds with the money to counterbalance his act as well as simultaneously ridding the world of vermin. Set in New York City Rossen's version modernizes the tale: Raskolnikov becomes Denny a jazz trumpeter in a sleazy pool hall his victims the owners of a pawnshop while he is pursued by a pair of cops. Based on the 1959 novel by Warren Miller. The play follows the difficult lives of members of an African American youth gang in Harlem. Billy Dee Williams's first adult role on Broadway thirteen years after his performance in "The Firebrand of Florence" at age 7 and twenty years before he would find international stardom in the role of Lando Calrissian. Basis for the 1963 film directed by Shirley Clarke and starring Antonio Fargas Gloria Foster and Clarence Williams III. Vintage "demolition derby" magazine program devoted to the Cavalcade of Thrills an "all-girl" auto daredevil thrill show that operated 1959-73. The show featured demolition-like thrills but was not a "demolition derby" by nature absent were intentional automobile-to-automobile crashes.Produced by Chester Rotroff who began working in fairs as a sound engineer by 1959 produced his own shows like Hollywood Cavalcade Broadway Scandels Old Dominican Jamboree and Plantation Caravan. By 1960 Rotroff's "Cavalcade of Thrills" debuts as the only all-girl auto thrill show ever collaborating w/ the Ford Motor Company later performances were televised on CBS. The show currently performs at fairs throughout Ohio managed by Yvona Stahl a veteran stunt driver of the show. Showcases drivers & other performers w/ brief biographies stuns performed ads even a 10-point safety statement on what civilians can do on the highways.Yvona Parker later Stahl manages current derbies in Ohio who performed reverse spins & roll-over maneuvers being the first female stunt driver to perform on two-wheels.
