The Story of Pretty Boy Floyd The Daltons: Outlaws Original screenplay for the 1974 television movie
Burbank CA: Universal Television / American Broadcasting Company ABC 1973. Draft script for the 1974 television movie "The Story of Pretty Boy Floyd" seen here under the title "The Daltons: Outlaws." As the script's title indicates a story originally intended to be about the Dalton Gang. For reasons unknown presumably legal the script was haphazardly rewritten in the same year to become a sympathetic portrait of Depression-era bank robber Pretty Boy Floyd. The completed film retains some of the Dalton-like elements seen in this draft including a trio of brothers as main characters. The resulting film starred real-life brothers Martin Sheen and Joe Estevez with Estevez in his first role. Set in Oklahoma. Olive green titled wrappers noted as production No. 39108 dated November 30 1973. Title page present dated November 30 1973 with credits for screenwriter Clyde Ware and producers Roy Huggins and Jo Swerling Jr. 89 leaves with last page of text numbered 88. Mimeograph duplication. Vintage one sheet poster for the 1975 film "Teenage Seductress" here with an ad for the 1977 film "Anna Obsessed" obscuring the "Teenage Seductress" image but not the credits. We presume the distributors of the later film reused the poster from the earlier film for promotion. Distributors' annotations in holograph ink on the verso . An excellent example of the wild and unregulated cross-promotion techniques employed by distributors in the heyday of the grindhouse era. "Teenage Seductress" and "Anna Obsessed" are both adult films rated R and X respectively made in 1975 and 1977 respectively. The former involves a young woman out for revenge on her father and the latter is a story about a woman who tracks down a sex offender. 25 x 37 inches folded as issued. New York: Factory Films 1968. Vintage black-and-white double weight still photograph of director Paul Morrissey and actor Joe Dallesandro shot during the making of Andy Warhol's 1968 film "Flesh." Photographer Werner Bokelberg's rubber stamp and holograph pencil annotations to the verso. Morrissey's first production for Warhol Dallesandro's second leading role and an intentionally envelope-pushing film Dallesandro plays a bisexual prostitute who tricks in order to fund his wife's lover's abortion. "Flesh" was considered so explicit that it was confiscated by the police in 1970 during one of its early screenings and features an overabundance of scenes that depict our main character's genitalia. Warren Lewis director; Herb Perdum screenwriter; Frank Lovejoy starring
Night Beat Nightbeat Original script for the 1951 radio program
New York: National Broadcasting Company NBC 1951. Revised script for the 1951 radio program "Nightbeat" a National Broadcasting Company NBC radio drama series that aired from February 6 1950 to September 25 1952 sponsored by Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer and Wheaties cereal starring Frank Lovejoy. This script for this episode is untitled. <br/><br/>"Nightbeat" came during the competition for audiences between radio and television and at the tail-end of "radio noir" a style of program that aired during the heyday of film noir. Edmond O'Brien "D.O.A." 1950 and several key noirs was slated to be the lead role and his narration coupled with William Rousseau's direction and Larry Marcus' script proved too edgy for NBC executives and potential sponsors. The producers ordered a second audition this time bringing in Frank Lovejoy 1912-1962 who had starred in "The Blue Beetle" radio show in 1940. Lovejoy's reworking of the hard-boiled script added a human element that of a passionate crusading reporter for the Chicago Star who covered the night beat known as "Randy Stone." Stone looked for interesting and strange stories encountering criminals and troubled souls some he was able to help. Lovejoy's grasp and delivery of hard-boiled phrases like "painted little dames with their brassy laughter" gave the show the edge it needed to compete with a burgeoning television audience and an elegant sendoff for radio noir. <br/><br/>The announcer for the program was Don Rickles and supporting performers included Joan Banks William Conrad Paul Frees Peter Leeds Lurene Tuttle and Ben Wright among others. Lovejoy would reprise his role as the tough guy with a heart of gold in "Search in the Night" 1953 an episode of the 1953-1956 television series "Four Star Playhouse."<br/><br/>Noted as PROGRAM NUMBER 57 on the first page dated September 7 1951 5:30-6:00 PM EST with credits for program manager Home Canfield actor Frank Lovejoy producer-director Warren Lewis writer Herb Purdum and others. 32 leaves mimeograph duplication.
