Blue silk book mark ribbon attached at one time to the headband - not so anymore 'tis loose. The head edge of the text block is trimmed the fore and tail edges are not. Four page index "Roster" of the caricatures at the back. The suede cover show only mild wear and some scuffing / rubbing with 2 small pulls tears at the spine head. The interior pages show some light age-toning and that mostly to the page margins. The text block edges are darkened. The binding is solid and sound. Le miroir a deux faces Original invitation from Morgan to Mme. de la Maziere for the 1958 film
N.p.: Self-published 1958. Original invitation from Michele Morgan to "Madame de la Maziere" in the form of a letter mechanically produced text on handmade paper with a small plant branch affixed to the inside similar to flower pressing. House in the original mailing envelope with Morgan's red wax seal on the verso. Mention of the film actors pretty women of Paris and the film premiere venue are present. Circa 1958 a unique correspondence showcasing a close relationship between Morgan and whoever might then have been with the philanthropist de la Maziere. A teacher Bourvil places a personal in the newspaper hoping to find a wife. He weds an unattractive woman to avoid troublesome attractive women and she is involved in an automobile accident. A doctor explains ways for restoring her beauty using a series of slides but the teacher is hesitant. He inevitably consents resulting in a "new" beautiful version of his wife Morgan. After her newfound looks the marriage begins to falter. Christian de la Maziere 1922-2006 was a journalist and member of the Charlemagne Division of the Waffen SS and was featured in Marcel Ophuls' documentary "The Sorrow and the Pity" 1969 discussing his military service. He worked for the fascist newspaper "Le Pays Libre" before joining Charlemagne and his autobiography "The Captive Dreamer" 1974 was based largely on experiences at Vichy. 9 x 12.25 inches single sheet folded once envelope 10.25 x 13 inches. Very Good plus overall light foxing and creasing pressed branch mostly disintegrated but several leaves still present. Self-published unknown
