Hombre Original screenplay for the 1967 film working script
Los Angeles: Twentieth Century-Fox 1965. Revised Draft script for the 1967 film. Copy belonging to an uncredited member of production with annotations throughout in holograph ink. One of the great Westerns and one that epitomizes the revisionist trend sparked by Elmore Leonard's early novels of the 1950s and 1960s. Newman plays a white man who was raised by the Apaches and has since had to straddle two worlds feeling truly comfortable in neither. While riding a stagecoach he is subject to the racial bias of banker Fredric March and March's snooty wife Barbara Rush. In truth March is an embezzler a fact that comes out when the coach is held up by murderous bandit-chief Richard Boone. When the passengers fight back Boone takes Rush as a hostage. Newman proves himself the bravest of the passengers systematically and intelligently outwitting the bandits one by one invoking Leonard's brilliant "white flag" scenario from the novel in the process. Shot on location in Arizona. Cream titled wrappers noted as REVISED SCREENPLAY on the front wrapper dated June 29 1965. Rivette Jacques director; Jean Gruault screenwriter Betty Schneider Daniel Crohem Francoise Prevost Jean Claude Brialy star
Paris nous appartient Paris Belongs to Us Original French moyenne poster for the 1961 film
Paris: Ajym Films 1961. Original French moyenne poster affiche for the 1961 French film. Winner of the 1962 Sutherland Trophy for best first or second feature by the British Film Institute. Scarce with only two copies found in Cine-ressources. A labor of love released after numerous financial woes and a three-year production schedule "Paris Belongs to Us" did not cause the same stir as did the debuts of Rivette's "Cahiers du Cinema" peers though today it is seen as a film with an importance on the same level as the first works of Truffaut Godard and Chabrol. Rivette retained his post at the journal throughout the 1960s even serving as editor from 1963 to 1965 as the French New Wave was in full swing. It wasn't until the start of the 1970s that Rivette's filmmaking career took off but the sensibilities and aesthetic values behind beloved masterpieces such as "Celine and Julie Go Boating" and "La belle noiseuse" are well on display in an exceptional first effort. Rivette's career is generally defined by his adherence to long-form storytelling and a sense of structural reflexivity. This first feature serves as a perfect preamble to the epics that followed offering early insight into his sense for both larger scope and narrative complexity. At a confident 140 minutes the runtime of "Paris Belongs to Us" is roughly 40 minutes longer than any other first feature of the French New Wave though it pales in comparison to his later work particularly the twelve-hour "Out 1". Further with its focus on a theatrical Shakespeare production Rivette uses film to comment on its relationship to the stage a theme he would address in future films. Set and shot in the streets and apartments of Paris. 23 x 31.5 inches folded as issued. Small exhibitor or distributor stamp to recto and verso. About Near Fine with small clean staple holes at corners and vertical fold very minor fold separation at edges and center. A wonderful of example of an unrestored and scarce poster for a landmark debut feature. BFI 656. Ajym Films unknown

The Nun La Religieuse Original French poster for the 1966 film
N.p.: Rome Paris Films 1966. Vintage French Moyenne poster for the 1966 film. Nominated for a Palme d'Or at the 1966 Cannes Film Festival. A flurry of controversy surrounded the production and release of Rivette's film. Upon facing pressure from the French Catholic Church regarding its critical religious and sexual content the new Minister of Information Yvon Bourges banned its release. As a result a massive campaign was launched in its defense eventually leading to the ban being lifted. The story is based on Denis Diderot's eighteenth century novel of the same title. It was conceived as a practical joke devised by Diderot to persuade the Marquis de Croismare to return to Paris. He assumed the identity of a desperate young woman forced into a convent and wrote elaborate letters to the Marquis beseeching him to help her. Eventually Diderot compiled the letters and built on them to create his novel. Like the film it too faced censorship and was not officially published until after the writer's death. Shot on location in Villeneuve-les-Avignon Gard France. 23.5 x 31 inches folded. Near Fine with two holograph ink and graphite annotations to the verso and light edgewear. Vogel Film as a Subversive Art. Rome Paris Films unknown

Resistance and Revenge 1939-1949
159 pages. Black and white illustrations. "Author is a holocaust survivor who, when this book was written, lived in Montreal. He escaped from Vilna and after the second world war spent several years in West Germany where he directed the War Crimes Section of the Legal Department of the Central Committee of Liberated Jews in Munich. For three years after the war he devoted all his energies to the prosecution of Nazi accomplices throughout Europe. His departure from Germany in 1949 marked the end of almost 10 years during which he had been an inmate of Nazi ghettos, a fugitive hiding out in the Polish countryside, an intelligence officer in a Russian-commanded partisan brigade, an unwilling member of the Soviet Secret Police, a refugee in West Germany, and finally a hunter of Nazi war criminals." - paraphrased from pages 20-21. Years after its publication, this book is being used to argue that the author lied about his wartime conduct to gain entry to Canada. Clean and unmarked with light wear. Sound copy. Book
