Tear at top of 107/108. Page 12 and 13 are not present. 291 1 p. Includes: maps Footnotes. Tables. From Wikipedia: "The Foreign Policy Association formerly known as the League of Free Nations Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring the American public to learn more about the world. Founded in 1918 it serves as a catalyst for developing awareness understanding of and providing informed opinions on global issues. The Foreign Policy Association aims to spread global awareness and understanding of foreign policy issues. The Foreign Policy Association was founded in 1918 as the League of Free Nations Association. Under the chairmanship of journalist Paul Kellogg it was formed by 141 distinguished Americans to support President Woodrow Wilson's efforts to achieve a just peace including John Foster Dulles and Eleanor Roosevelt. The Association was reconstituted in 1923 as the Foreign Policy Association with a commitment to the careful study of all sides of international questions affecting the U.S. In the 1920s FPA initiated Saturday luncheon discussions on foreign policy in New York City. The luncheon discussions quickly grew very popular and in 1938 19 women formed FPA's "Off-the-Record" lecture series in order to learn even more about international affairs. In the 1940s the FPA pioneered international affairs radio discussions by broadcasting New York meetings and weekly talks on "The World Today" over the NBC network. Later as the discussions among citizens spread the FPA branches across the U.S. became forerunners of the independent World Affairs Councils founded in the 1950s. Meanwhile the FPA's publications Foreign Policy Reports 1925 51 Foreign Policy Bulletin 1920 61 and Headline Series1935 present became known and respected at the time for their clear and impartial analysis of foreign policy issues. In a democracy the Government functions with the consent of the whole people. The latter must be guided by the facts. The Foreign Policy Association is performing a high duty in facilitating the lucid presentation of the facts of world problems and their impact upon the United States. -Franklin D. Roosevelt 1943 The heart of the FPA's outreach effort the Great Decisions program was launched in 1954. The program has become the largest nonpartisan public education program on international affairs in the world. The FPA continued to undertake new educational challenges to improve the teaching of world affairs in the nation's schools in the 1960s when the forerunner of FPA's Citizen's Guide to U.S. Foreign Policy was published. The complexity and multiplicity of the foreign policy questions facing the U.S. today places a premium on intelligent understanding of the issues by the widest possible cross-section of citizens I am particularly impressed with the approach which the Foreign Policy Association has taken. -John F. Kennedy 1960 In the 1970s Great Decisions opinion ballots were tabulated nationally for the first time. Every year results of ballot tabulations are presented to the White House the departments of State and Defense Members of Congress and the nation's media. Today the preparation of innovative study materials and teachers' guides as well as workshops for teachers are among FPA top priorities. An updated version of the history of the Foreign Policy Association is presented in this video narrated by Tom Brokaw. It builds on the well-documented history of the Foreign Policy Association's service to the U.S. Public and the U.S. policymakers including updates on currents FPA programs and meetings." Founded in 1918 it serves as a catalyst for developing awareness understanding of and providing informed opinions on global issues. Public and the U.S. policymakers including updates on currents FPA programs and meetings." John Boorman Vilmos Zsigmond and Jon Voight on the set of "Deliverance" Collection of 3 original photographs from the 1972 film
Burbank CA: Warner Brothers 1972. Three striking vintage photographs from the 1972 film picturing variously director John Boorman cinematographer Vilmos Zsigmond Jon Voight and others working on location along the Cahulawassee River in Georgia the setting for most of the film. A seminal entry in the early days of the New Hollywood cinema movement. As with "Point Blank" in 1967 British director John Boorman demonstrated a stunning instinct for American idioms and even American cultural undercurrents. And perhaps most importantly of all he had the stuff required to order the book's author James Dickey off the set. The photograph with Zsigmond Boorman and Voight is in a custom museum-quality frame archivally mounted with UV glass. The other two photographs accompany the set and are unframed. All 3 photographs 8 x 10 inches one photograph with a snipe at the verso the other two with brief text at the bottom margin. Warner Brothers unknown

Point Blank Original photograph from the 1967 film
Beverly Hills CA: Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer MGM 1967. Vintage studio reference photograph of Lee Marvin and Angie Dickenson from the 1967 film with mimeo snipe on the verso. Based on the 1963 novel "The Hunter" by Donald E. Westlake. Along with "Bonnie and Clyde" "Point Blank" is a foundational late 1960s crime film setting the stage for the New Hollywood era. A blunt unapologetic nihilistic work one of the gems of early neo-noir with touches of French New Wave. Viewers and critics have often questioned whether or not the film is really a dream that its protagonist has after he is shot in the very beginning. Director Boorman claims to not have an opinion on the matter and has said that the film is about the lead character's brutalizing experiences in World War II that had dehumanized him and left him desperately searching for his humanity. Zardoz Original photograph from the 1974 film
N.p.: John Boorman Productions 1974. Vintage borderless double weight photograph from the 1974 film. Rubber stamp crediting Michel Ciment on the verso. After the critical and commercial success of 1972's "Deliverance" director John Boorman was given almost total creative freedom for his next film. He responded by costuming Sean Connery in only his second post-Bond film in red briefs and suspenders thigh-high boots a handlebar mustache and a long braid and setting him loose in a utopian city of nearly catatonically bored immortals as a ruthless killer doing the violent bidding of a giant floating talking stone head. In his spare time he mates and has a child with Charlotte Rampling. Somewhat obviously the film has since become a cult classic. Shot on location in Ireland. 9.25 x 7 inches.
