Hamlet : illustrations de Carzou, Karnik Zouloumian, naît à Alep, 1907 et mort à Paris en 2000. Il travaille quatre fois de suite pour la scène. Après l'acte des Incas des Indes Galantes de Rameau en 1952 à l'Opéra de Paris, c'est Le Loup pour Roland Petit (1953, sur une musique d'Henri Dutilleux), puis Giselle à nouveau à l'Opéra en 1954 et Athalie à la Comédie-Française en 1955. Ces quatre réalisations assurent sa gloire et il n'y reviendra qu'en 1969 pour La Périchole (avec Maurice Lehmann comme au temps des Indes Galantes), refusant la plupart des autres propositions de peur de se voir « relégué » au rang de décorateur. Sa dernière grande exposition thématique, consacrée à Versailles, circule de Paris à New York (dans cette même Galerie Wildenstein qui l'avait accueilli en 1959), Osaka et Tokyo. 207 pages. Né à Paris, école d'Art et Métiers, exerce professionnellement la peinture et débute au théâtre comme comédien, il entre dans la compagnie Gaston Baty. Ses œuvres et ses succès, en tant que peintre et metteur en scène, ne se comptent plus. Il collabore avec les auteurs les plus célèbres. Parmi ses plus grandes réussites citons : Othello -La nuit des rois- Le marchand de Venise - L'aiglon - Le joueur, etc. Depuis 1934, ses expositions de peintures se sont succèdées dans les galeries parisiennes. Plusieurs de ses tableaux ont été achetés par l’État Français et la ville de Paris. 320 pages. Othello : illustrations de Léonor Fini, née à Buenos Aires. Commence à peindre à Trieste et s'installe à l'âge de 27 ans. Première exposition à la galerie Bonjean à Paris puis, à travers le monde : Londres - New - York - Venise - Rome etc. Elle crée les décors pour l'opéra de Paris - la comédie Française - la Scala de Milan ...... Parmi ses œuvres les plus renommées citons : "Le Palais de Cristal" - "Bérénice" - "Le Mal Court" - "La Mégère apprivoisée" - "Le Chandelier" - "Roméo et Juliette"... Elle illustre les textes des auteurs les plus célèbres : Sade - Shakespeare - Baudelaire - Edgar Poe ... De nombreuses monographies et un court métrage vantent son œuvre déjà très importante et particulièrement appréciée. Les musées d'art moderne de Paris - Rome - Bruxelles - Grenoble - Lodz, s'honorent de ses toiles. Le Roi Lear - Jules César : illustration de Georges WAKHÉVICH, né en Russie à Odessa, il entre à l'école des Arts Décoratifs et étudie parallèlement la peinture dans les ateliers de Montparnasse. Il début sa carrière de peintre et décorateur dés l'âge de vingt ans. Il devient collaborateur des plus grands metteurs en scène internationaux : Jean Cocteau - Jean Renoir - H.G. Clouzot - Marcel Carné - Herbert Von Karajan, etc. Il aborde le théâtre lyrique au Covent Garden de Londres en 1948. A la suite de quoi, il collabore aux spectacles de toutes les grandes scènes française, puis l'opéra de Rome, la Scala de Milan et le Métropolitain de New-York. L'importance de ses œuvres ne nous permettant pas de toutes les citer, nous en avons sélectionné quelques unes : Roméo et Juliette - Macbeth - Othello - Faust - La Walkyrie - le dialogue des carmélites,..........
