During his sojourn in America, he became acquainted with Dr. Joseph Priestley, Thomas Jefferson, and other eminent men. French born Antoine Jean Claude Brunin de Bolmar (1797-1861) settled in Philadelphia in 1828. To escape an 1832 cholera epidemic, Bolmar moved to rural West Chester outside Philadelphia and engaged in writing text books. In 1834 he was convinced to take over running the West Chester Academy, which went on to become very popular. In 1840 he opened a boarding school for young men and boys. This school, known as Bolmar's Seminary, became one of the most successful educational institutions in the state, which caused Bolmar to gain fame and students from all over the Western Hemisphere. Later stamped ownership of William Harris. Henrich Smet (also Henricus Smetius Alostanus, Henricus Smetius a Leda, or Hendrik de Smet) (1535-1614) of Heidelberg was a physician and humanist scholar. The first edition of Prosodia came out in 1599 at Frankfurt. In 1603 Antoine de Harsy (fl. 1572-1607) published this second edition. It was a very popular anthology of Latin quotations and their authors that functioned as a kind of students' dictionary of phrases that could be quickly traced to the correct classical author.
