Paris Eugène Fasquelle 1928 In-8, reliure articulée en Pollopas bordeaux, plats biseautés, premier plat orné d'une incrustation d'une plaque en acier poli portant le titre de l'ouvrage; nom de l'auteur et titre de l'ouvrage gravés sur une plaque de même acier poli incrustée sur le dos; doublures et gardes de papier coloré dans des tons vifs, tête dorée, non rogné, couverture imprimée (Reliure Jotau, breveté S.G.D.G.).Très rare spécimen de ces reliures qui furent inventées et réalisées entre les années 1933 et 1955 par Joseph Taupin, sous le pseudonyme de Jotau. Les plats et le dos sont entièrement moulés en Pollopas (matière plastique proche de la galalithe mise au point par Kuhlmann), et s'articulent autour de deux charnières mécaniques de type piano. Le second plat porte à côté de la signature Reliure Jotau, la mention breveté S.G.D.G. qui laisse croire que le procédé fit l'objet d'un brevet déposé, ce qui est faux. Ce type de reliure fut abandonné, en raison du coût de fabrication et de la fragilité de la matière utilisée particulièrement cassante. Notre reliure, parfaitement conservée, est un extraordinaire témoin d'une recherche très avant-gardiste pour l'époque, et dont la conception peut être comparée à certaines créations contemporaine.

Bound by Daniel Kelm: full white alum-tawed pigskin the front panel with inset bas relief paper casting in white against blue paper ground with darker blue border taken from an original wax sculpture by Alan James Robinson; torso of nude Leda with swan between her legs; housed in custom-made tan cloth clamshell box with blue paper linings three -part fold out with inset in one to accommodate bas relief on binding cover signed by Daniel Kelm on the colophon of the book. The clamshell box also houses the original drawing by Robinson of the swan and Leda 5 state proof etchings 13 proofs of the wood engravings and an extra suite of the 5 etchings and 7 wood engravings as well as a copy of the original prospectus. One of 15 deluxe "state proof" copies this being No. 14 SIGNED by both the artist Alan James Robinson and the binder David Kelm on the colophon page. Bound in full alum tawed pigskin with an inset bas relief paper cast illustration to the front board. Illustrated with five drypoint etchings and seven wood engravings. The state proofs for both the etchings and the woodblock engravings are enclosed as is a drawing and an extra suite of prints. Both book and prints are enclosed in a specially designed oatmeal cloth covered fall back box. A beautiful example of modern book arts. 42 pages plus non-numbered leaves for the illustrations 8 x 11 inches printed at Wild Carrot Letterpress on T.H. Saunders hotpress watercolor paper.
