Fin dall'inizio del regno di Francesco I, che lo nominò maître des requêtes nel 1523, cercò di favorire presso la corte la causa delle belle lettere e della filologia, con la costituzione, nel 1530, del Collège de France, una scuola ove fossero insegnate le lingue dell'antichità, il latino, il greco antico e l'ebraico. After completing his law studies in Orléans, Budé made a commitment to study the Greek language, mathematics with Jacques Lefèvre d'Étaples, history, philosophy, theology and medicine. He was a notary, secretary of King Louis XII and his ambassador to Rome, showing a vast erudition that earned him the title of ‘prodigy of France’ from Erasmus. From the beginning of the reign of Francis I, who named him maître des requêtes in 1523, he tried to favor the cause of fine letters and philology at the court, with the establishment, in 1530, of the Collège de France, a school where the languages of antiquity, Latin, ancient Greek and Hebrew were taught.

Avocat puis fonctionnaire d’état, préfet et directeur de la sûreté Générale en 1890, il termine sa carrière comme directeur de l’imprimerie Nationale. Il était aussi viticulteur et propriétaire de crus en Beaujolais. Bel exemplaire dans lequel la page de titre, plusieurs encadrements, 4 illustrations et 1 cul-de-lampe ont été SOIGNEUSEMENT ELUMINÉS et rehaussés d’or.
