Reliure de l'époque de demi-maroquin fauve à grains longs à coins filets à froid portés sur les plats dos à nerfs orné de filets gras et maigres à froid titre doré date dorée en queue tête dorée. Ravissant et désirable "petit" exemplaire 113 x 76 mm. Les deux compositions de Rochegrosse annoncées font ici défaut. Non content de voir le rôle qu'attribua Sand à Musset dans son autobiographie parue six mois plus tôt Paul de Musset rédigea cette biographie visant à la réhabilitation de son frère disparu deux ans plus tôt. Après Jules Sandeau et une aventure brève et malheureuse avec l'écrivain et archéologue Prosper Mérimée sa liaison suivante fut avec le jeune Alfred de Musset de dix ans son cadet. Leur relation houleuse passionnée agrémentée de trahisons le fameux séjour à Venise où Musset courra les grisettes pendant que George Sand était malade et où George Sand guérie trompa Musset malade avec son médecin Pietro Pagello et de ruptures donna lieu à une intense correspondance qui compte des lettres d'amour parmi les plus belles de la langue française. Après la mort d'Alfred de Musset George Sand fit paraître Elle et lui narrant leur histoire. Vicaire V Manuel de l'amateur de livres du XIXème 1320. Très légères marques d'usage affectant la reliure.
