Rough-cut pages are moderately tanned with noticeable foxing throughout. Slight crinkling to paper at gutters however binding remains firm. Slight insect damage to rear hinge. Previous owner's inscription to front free endpaper and pastedown. Thumb-marking present throughout. Boards have slight edge wear with corner bumping. Visible tanning to spine and edges with some crushing to spine ends. Gilt lettering is darkened. Black ink to rear board. Water staining to all surfaces. Methuen and Co.Ltd. hardcover
