Kipling's son John was killed in France in World War I. Kipling was devastated. When he was approached about writing a regimental history of the Irish Guards not on business terms but as a monument to his son's service he accepted at once and started without delay. In the original publisher's pictorial dustjacket which is not price-clipped. There is light creasing to the head and tail of the dustjacket spine and to the dustjacket edges. There are very light scratch marks to the dustjacket covers which can only be seen if held up to the light. There are NO inscriptions or other marks. 320 pp. Illustrated with b/w plates and b/w map endpapers. Three Appendices; Index. Overall apart from the minor 'faults' to the dustjacket as detailed above this is an Excellent Very Clean Tight and Bright 'Fine' copy.
