<p>The three-volume set vellum over boards as published by Doubleday Doran this copy numbered 404 from the edition of 537 sets each set signed by Kipling on the justification page of Volume 1. This is an ex-library copy with library stamps and markings on the front and back of each title page a bookplate one the front endpaper of each volume and a library card pocket and sign-out sheet pasted to the rear endpaper and flyleaf of each volume. Library call numbers have been removed from each of the spines. The interior pages are otherwise clean except for one or two pages in each volume which may contain a library stamp. The bindings are tight. The covers are lightly soiled and the spines discolored. The covers of Volumes 2 and 3 especially have a rose-colored stain which is perhaps bleed-through from the paper over which the vellum is pasted. The points of each cover are worn through and there is a 1" split to the vellum over the gutter of Volume 1. Detailed photos are available upon request.
