‎Emerald Eyes: A Tale of Continuing Time‎

‎Sandy Utah U.S.A.: Quiet Vision Pub 2002 Book. As New. Soft cover. First Thus. 9h x 6 1/2w. A real nice clean unmarked 283 page first edition of this softcover book. States on last page. 283 The book was purchesed in 1986 by Amy Stout at Bantam Book and was edited by her. The current edition was edited by this other person Amy Stout-Moran. Emerald Eyes is the first novel in the continuing time series. The timing of Emerald Eyes is in 50 years when the United Nations has assumed control over the earth sometimes by force as in the case of Japan and the United States. The French who backed the UN early are the ethnicity that now is in the ascendancy. Trying to genetically engineer humans to be better soldiers for them they create a race of telepaths the first of which is Carl Castanaveras. Most of the novel is about Carl's struggle to free the telepaths from being slaves in the service of the U.N.'s peacekeeping force. There's a lot going on beyond that in this novel because of the depth of Moran's world building. Quiet Vision Pub paperback‎

When her superiors in the Sisterhood demanded that she return to Yuulith she disobeyed -- and so one day Macurdy came home and found that the Sisterhood had abducted Varia taking her from Farside as they called our world to Yuulith. That was a big mistake. Macurdy may have seemed to be an ordinary farmer but this would not be the first time that under the surface of an unassuming landholder lurked a strategic genius of the highest order; and he would follow Varia across the dimensional barrier to get her back even if he had to raise his own army and crush any nation or ruler who stood in his way -- and in the process become the invincible warlord Makurdi known to his followers as The Lion of Farside.
