(1899) Manifesto originale litografato a colori (49,5 x 65, cm) che rappresenta Émile Zola nelle sembianze di un maiale, seduto su una vasca contenente le sue opere romantiche e imbrattando la mappa della Francia con “cacca internazionale”. Cornice artigianale in legno laccata nero. Lieve strappo al margine inferiore con lacuna di circa un centimetro. Manifesto facente parte della serie Il Museo degli orrori, una galleria di ritratti dei più famosi difensori dell'Affaire Dreyfus. Distribuiti tra l'ottobre 1899 e il dicembre 1900 in una Francia travolta da una potente ondata antisemita. questi immensi ritratti colorati sono opera di Victor Lenepveu che annunciò la pubblicazione di 150 poi 200 disegni e alla fine ne produsse solo una cinquantina. Questi orrori beneficiarono di un'ampia promozione da parte dei giornali antisemiti che annunciarono una tiratura fittizia di 300.000 copie, insinuando così il successo delle idee antisemite tra la popolazione. Nonostante la legge sulla libertà di stampa del 1881 consentisse la diffusione di immagini politicamente sovversive, la pubblicazione di questo pantheon da incubo fu interrotta per ordine del Ministero degli Interni. Le grandi vignette del Museo degli Orrori anti-Dreyfus di Victor Lenepveu con i loro colori, la loro oscenità e la loro crudeltà raggiungono l'apice dell'abiezione. Con una violenza raramente eguagliata, le caricature del Museo degli Orrori sono tanto più efficaci perché i volti dei personaggi rappresentati sono identificabili al primo sguardo. Posti sui corpi di animali spesso mostruosi, sono offensivi e degradanti: Émile Zola, come un maiale seduto su una mangiatoia, imbratta di escrementi la mappa della Francia; Il capitano Dreyfus è raffigurato come un serpente che porta un cartello con la scritta "Le traitre" ("Il traditore"), ecc. Raramente l'odio antisemita ha raggiunto tali livelli in Francia e ha trovato un illustratore più efficace di Victor Lenepveu, le cui immagini sono tanto più terrificanti perché, dal punto di vista della caricatura, sono notevoli e di un formato impressionante. La fragilità della carta e il formato imponente di questi manifesti, nonché il loro quasi immediato sequestro da parte della polizia, hanno contribuito alla scomparsa di queste caricature che tuttavia hanno avuto un forte impatto sull'opinione pubblica.
