Petit frottement en queue. très bel exemplaire avec quelques rousseurs éparses dans les marges.L'intérêt de l'ouvrage se manifeste tant par son érudition que par sa facilité d'approche et de lecture anecdotes historiques. On le doit à Paul Jacob qui fut un grand bibliophile un écrivain et érudit et le conservateur de la bibliothèque de l'Arsenal. Si toute la série est devenue un grand classique dans le domaine c'est qu'elle marie heureusement un travail d'éditeur d'imprimeur de relieur d'histoire d'illustrateurs de documentations et peu de livres ont finalement réussi cet amalgame qu'on doit à Firmin-Didot à une époque où le livre était devenu bien médiocre.
