SIMENON GEORGES
The Burgomaster of Furnes
London: Routledge 1952. First Edition. Hard Cover. Dust Jacket. First UK Edition. Publisher's red boards with white lettering to the spine. A fine copy in a very nearly fine D/W with absolutely NO FADING to the spine with a little glue residue to the inside flap where a later price label has been removed. Quite simply the nicest copy of this title that I have encountered in more than 20 years specialising in this author. Photographs/scans available upon request Routledge hardcover

SIMENON GEORGES
Maigret Abroad
London: Routledge 1940. First Edition. Hard Cover. Dust Jacket. First UK Edition. Publisher's original buff cloth titles to spine in black. Lovely clean copy. The buff boards are bright and clean though spine has a few small marks and is slightly bumped at ends with a small 1 cm closed tear on rear top edge. Black rather than gold lettering on spine means this may be the second issue of the first edition although this has not been conclusively proven. Pages are clean and tight with only slight tanning and no inscriptions. In the rare first issue D/W priced 8/- net to the inside flap as called for that is creased to the inside flap and foxed under the manufacturers lamination common to the first three in this pre-war series however is still all there. Its VG because of the foxing yet sits well on the shelves being likely the scarcest among the first six Routledge volumes. Rare. Scans invited. Routledge hardcover

SIMENON GEORGES
The Disintegration of J.P.G.
London: Routledge 1937. First Edition. Hard Cover. Dust Jacket. First UK Edition. Publisher's black boards with gilt spine lettering. The book is clean and bright with just a little softening at the head and tail of the spine. Overall a near fine copy. In the RARE D/W priced 5s. net to the inside flap as called for. The D/W shows as a VG example. A former owner arranged for archival paper of a roughly-similar colour to be inserted at the spine tips to lessen the impact of a few minor chips but there has been no recolouring. The fourth most difficult Simenon after the three Hurst & Blackettt's which are virtually impossible to find these days. No U. S. Edition. First Routledge Simenon. Extremely scarce. This book is exceedingly uncommon and this is the only second copy that I have seen since the millennium. Scans invited. Routledge hardcover

SIMENON GEORGES
Maigret Abroad
London: Routledge 1940. First Edition. Hard Cover. Dust Jacket. First UK Edition. Publisher's original buff cloth titles to spine in black. Lovely clean copy. Publisher's original buff cloth titles to spine in gilt. A lovely near fine copy offsetting to the end-papers with gold lettering on the spine indicating that this is the likely first issue of the first edition. In the VERY RARE D/W priced 8/- net to the inside flap as called for. The D/W is bright but creased with a short closed tear to the foot of the front panel and head of front flap and tape repair to verso. First edition in English first impression very scarce in D/W. The volume comprises two stories La Danseuse du Gai-Moulin and Un Crime en Hollande both of which were first published in French in 1931. In my experience the scarcest among the first six Routledge volumes. Rare. Scans invited. A much nicer copy than normally seen. Laid in are: a author's postcard sized card signed inscribed and dated 1977 on his Lausanne Switzerland letterhead; and b a 1965 Press photograph of the author on a Winter Sports Holiday at Crans Sur Sierre dated 4-1-65". Rare with these attributes Routledge hardcover

SIMENON GEORGES
Maigret Sits It Out
London: Routledge 1940. First Edition. Hard Cover. Dust Jacket. First UK Edition. The VG book and blue boards are tight and clean. The VG D/W is lightly browned at the edges and has a shallow 3 mm chip at the top of the spine. There is also light shallow chipping to the top edge of the rear panel not affecting any lettering and a small triangular chip to the bottom edge of the rear panel just affecting one of the blurbs. . Overall though the D/W is bright and looks great. The nicest copy of this fragile book that I have seen in the last 20 years. The pale blue D/W is susceptible to fading and this copy has lasted the test of time very well. Routledge hardcover

London: Hamish Hamilton 1954. First Edition. Hard Cover. Dust Jacket. Signed by Author. First UK Edition. INSCRIBED COPY. ADDITIONALLY SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR'S WIFE: MRS DENISE SIMENON. The Mr Wren referred to in the inscription is presumed to be an official/owner of Hamish Hamilton who assisted Georges Simenon & his wife on their trip to England in November 1954 arranged by Hamish Hamilton. There is a copy of a letter from Mrs Simenon to Mr Wren thanking him for all his help during their visit to the UK . Exceedingly scarce with these attributes.
