‎Vanaf 1978 tot heden heeft kunstenaar Daniël Dewaele op al zijn wandelingen bordjes met het opschrift "Verboden Toegang" gefotografeerd. Het is een collectie van wel duizenden foto's. Via taal wordt hier duidelijk gemaakt dat men op een bepaald terrein niet welkom is. Maar hoe kan men, bij gebrek aan taal, een afgebakend terrein fotografisch vastleggen? Wat zijn de tools die de borden met opschriften vervangen? Dit boek is een beeldverhaal waarin rood-witte plastiek linten, verkeerselementen, dranghekken en andere belemmerende elementen een rol spelen. Omdat de duidelijkheid van de taal er niet is, zijn omstandigheden belangrijk. Sommige situaties zijn fotografisch interessant. Andere, hoe intens de fysieke afwering in de realiteit ook wordt ervaren, nodigen niet uit om er een boeiend beeld van te maken. Alle situaties - de begrenzingen - zijn er omwille van diverse redenen. In het minst om artistieke. En toch kan men stellen dat er een zekere schoonheid in zit. ‎Mitten im Krieg wird ein Luxusdampfer für Juden und Nazis zum Schicksalsschiff Rosine De Dijn erzählt die abenteuerliche Geschichte des portugiesischen Luxusdampfers Serpa Pinto und führt uns die Abgründe und Absurditäten des Zweiten Weltkriegs vor Augen. Die Serpa Pinto brachte im Frühling 1942 in Brasilien lebende deutsche Nationalsozialisten, die für »Führer« und Vaterland kämpfen wollten, zurück nach Europa. Gleichzeitig wurde das Schiff für jüdische Flüchtlinge zur letzten Rettung. Die Serpa Pinto war im Jahr 1942 auf der schicksalhaften Route Rio de Janeiro - Lissabon - New York unterwegs. Die Passagiere an Bord des Schiffes von Kapitän Americo Dos Santos hätten unterschiedlicher nicht sein können. Auf dem Weg von Südamerika nach Lissabon brachte die Serpa Pinto sogenannte Auslandsdeutsche, die in den Jahren der Inflation und Wirtschaftskrise nach Brasilien ausgewandert waren, »heim ins Reich«, wo sie für Hitler in den Krieg ziehen wollten. Die Fahrt von Rio nach Lissabon war eine Luxusfahrt verglichen mit der Atlantiküberquerung in umgekehrter Richtung von Lissabon nach New York. Jetzt wurde die Serpa Pinto zur letzten Zuflucht für Hunderte von Flüchtlingen, die Europa über das neutrale Portugal verließen. Die Geschichte der Serpa Pinto zeigt - quasi in einem Mikrokosmos - die Dramen des Zweiten Weltkriegs: die Fanatisierung für den Nationalsozialismus auf der einen Seite, die so weit ging, dass man die sichere Heimat Brasilien verließ und ins kriegsgeschüttelte Europa aufbrach. Auf der anderen Seite aber Menschen, die ihre Heimat unwiderruflich verloren und zu Flüchtlingen wurden. . ‎This publication investigates the individual works ascribed to the Master of Flemalle, presenting new conclusions regarding division of hands and dating. The group of paintings ascribed to the Master of Flemalle is one of the most outstanding and at the same time most enigmatic of early Netherlandish painting. Influential throughout the 15th century, these works are nowadays regarded, together with those of the Van Eyck brothers, as a starting point of Northern renaissance art. Ever since these paintings were grouped together a hundred years ago, on the grounds of stylistical analysis, they have been the object of controversial scholarly debates, concerning the identity of the artist and the coherence and homogeneity of the oeuvre. This publication presupposes neither the most newly assumed identification of the artist with Robert Campin of Tournai nor the homogeneity of the oeuvre. Instead, the investigation concentrates on the individual works, starting with the eponymous paintings in Frankfurt. Using the whole range of art historical methods and the results of technical investigations, the study presents new conclusions regarding division of hands and dating. Furthermore, the sometimes complex relations between different works are investigated. Another important result of the study is the reconstruction of now dismembered ensembles. In the course of the study, the Flemalle group turns out to be the work of several artists rather than the oeuvre of one master. There seem to be two major sub-groups which are connected with each other and which may even have come from one workshop. In the light of these findings, the study gives a new evaluation of the roles of Robert Campin and Rogier van der Weyden. Languages: German.‎

Nel margine inferiore, quattro versi in latino su due colonne “Non datur; eximas veneret, ut inscius artes, solus eas quaerens noscere, gestit amor…” e al centro “Inscius non honorabitur” Da un dipinto di Bartholomäus Spranger, 1596 circa, conservato a Vienna Magnifica prova, ricca di toni, impressa su carta vergata coeva, rifilata alla linea marginale, restauri perfettamente eseguiti agli angoli, tracce di piega orizzontale, per il resto in buono stato di conservazione. La composizione rappresenta l’allegoria della vittoria della saggezza sull’ignoranza. La saggezza è nelle sembianze di Minerva che ha un piede sull'ignoranza - un uomo con le orecchie d'asino, con le mani legate da una corda. Un putto la onora con una corona di alloro. Intorno a loro ci sono sette personificazioni delle sette arti libere: astronomia, musica, geometria, pittura, scultura e retorica, tra le altre. Sotto la rappresentazione c'è una didascalia latina di quattro righe che sottolinea che gli ignoranti sono incapaci di adorare le arti. Bibliografia Hollstein, XXI,115; Wurzbach 82. Magnificent proof, rich in tone, printed on contemporary laid paper, trimmed at the marginal line, perfectly executed restorations at the corners, traces of horizontal crease, otherwise in good condition. After the painting by Bartholomäus Spranger, around 1596, in the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Wien Wisdom is in the form of Minerva with one foot on ignorance, a man with donkey ears. A putto honors her with a laurel wreath. She has tied the hands of the man with a rope. Around them are seven personifications as a variation on the seven liberal arts: astronomy, music, geometry, painting, sculpture and rhetoric.
