Crudely trimmed good only. 4.5x6". 16pp. This is the sort of pornographic booklet that for obvious reasons was published anonymously; possibly in New York but there's really not much to go on. Very likely rewritten or copied from a Victorian or fin de siecle work; it has some of the stylistic hallmarks and given the slim budget this was produced with the book employs two different paper stocks and the premium value of originality it is at least a work of pastiche. Cheaply produced and in unknown quantities by an unknown publisher this is the sort of work that's remarkable in a way for simply having survived; in that sense it truly is a piece of ephemera. Others clean A nice example of Meiji 1867-1912 period printing by a skilled painter & artist. As usual this work is not signed this kind of erotically illustrated work was banned by the Shogun. Nevertheless this kind of Shunpon erotic book was still widely produced and distributed covertly. . It is not surprising this and a plethora of other Japanese Shunga Shunpon Erotic prints & books are not listed in Shibui. Erotic books were "suppressed" by the Tokugawa Shogunate therefore the majority of these kinds of books & prints were published on the 'black market' and not distributed openly. Manuscript / typescript of 10 erotic poems with cover sheet in pencil giving the title and with the note that these would appear in 1919 in a deluxe edition and in very limited number. Indeed they were published 20 poems in total with the same title very limited 84 copies with erotic woodcuts by Bernard Cochet under his pseudonym Gece. This was in the estate of Edmond Roze d. 1943 a theatrical impresario in Paris who was good friends with Dekobra. These are all erotic and libertine poems celebrating women's buttocks and various erotic pleasures according to one critic evoking the pleasures of both opulent Messaline-type figures the promiscuous third wife of Emperor Claudius and 'vicious fourteen year olds.' Age toning light wear to cover sheet most corrections are insertions of commas and the like. Now fairly unknown Dekobra in his day was known as an edgy and interesting writer and was widely read and admired. paperback‎
