POEMS
London: Smith Elder and Co. 1846 i.e. 1848 Small octavo 17 cm x 10.5 cm pp. iv 165 1 leaf of adverts. Original olive ribbed cloth with elaborate blind-stamped frame enclosing a blind-stamped harp to both upper and lower covers gilt spine lettering cancelled title-page without the errata slip or publisher's catalogue binder's ticket of "Westleys & Co" to rear pastedown. The first edition of 1000 was originally published by Aylott & Jones in 1846 and except for 39 copies did not sell. In 1847 after the success of Jane Eyre Smith Elder purchased the remaining unsold sheets. Aside from the cancelled title-page bearing their imprint and the 1846 date there were no textual changes. Spine faded to tan along with the top edge fore-edge and spine-edge of the covers stain to upper cover with a splash stain to lower cover corners a bit soft spine rubbed at head & heel with spine ends started. Ink inscription to front free endpaper "To Miss A. Talbot Your voyage on SS Beaverburn." Also contains the signature of J.B. Smith John Bisset Smith Captain in the late 1940's of the SS Beaverburn. Ink inscription at the head of the title-page "Sent me by dearest Georgy when he was away" signed "Emily G.E. Newcomb Halberton Nov. 1858." She was the wife of Rev. Charles George Newcomb Vicar of Halberton Devon. Overall a lovely little copy of the first appearance in print of any of the Bronte sisters. . First Edition Second Issue. Hardcover. Very Good. Brontë Anne; Brontë Charlotte; Brontë Emily
Tutti i romanzi: Jane Eyre-Shirley-Villette-Il professore-Agnes Grey-La signora di Wildfell Hall-Cime tempestose. Ediz. integrale
ril.

Poesie. Testo inglese a fronte
br.
